Manchester City and England winger Raheem Sterling was allegedly attacked and racially abused before the club's 4-1 victory over Tottenham on Saturday.

The incident is said to have happened when Sterling arrived at the club to prepare for the Premier League fixture.

It is understood that the 23-year-old was approached by a man at the players' entrance at City's training base.

The incident is understood to have happened when Sterling arrived at City's training base.
It is alleged the man then kicked the player before calling him a 'n*****' after Sterling had got out of his car to ask him if there was a problem.

It isn't known whether the incident has been reported to Greater Manchester Police, but City have not denied reports of what happened.

It has, however, called into question the security of the club's training complex.

Despite the incident, City manager Pep Guardiola started Sterling in the evening fixture against Tottenham.

The England international scored twice as the league leaders comfortably beat Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Sterling's two goals also put him above Sergio Aguero as the club's top goalscorer this season.
