Jesse Lingard hits back at critics during celebration after putting Man Utd 2-0 ahead v Everton

Share:

Jesse Lingard used his goal celebration against Everton to hit back at recent criticism of Manchester United.

The forward put his side 2-0 ahead at Goodison Park with a fine strike in the 81st minute.

It followed a brilliant goal from Anthony Martial earlier in the second half.

Lingard clearly wanted to send a message with his goal celebration as he raced to the touchline television camera holding his finger to his lip in a silencing gesture.

The England international even shrugged off his team-mates to make sure his message got across and gestured zipping his mouth shut.

The celebration appeared to be in response to recent criticism of Manchester United’s performances. There have also been recent stories about Lingard’s private life.

Heading into the game with Everton the Red Devils had drawn their previous three Premier League games and before that were knocked out of the League Cup by Bristol City.

Lingard was subbed off soon after his goal and Manchester United held on to win 2-0 and get back to winning ways.
